Tungsten is a rare natural earth metal. It is classified as a refractory metal due to its very high melting point (3422°C) and low vapor pressure. It also has the highest tensile strength of all metals at temperatures over 1650°C. It is incredibly dense, with a density similar to gold and uranium. In fact, tungsten even means "heavy stone" in Swedish. Tungsten is typically alloyed with other materials because pure tungsten is extremely brittle and difficult to machine.

Our aluminum spheres are made of precipitation-hardened aluminum 6061 alloy and have a polished, reflective surface. We also offer tungsten and aluminum sphere sets, which allow you to compare the incredible density of tungsten with the much lighter aluminum alloy.
