This is an exact replica of a custom mouthpiece made for trumpet artist Peter Weller by Dominick Calicchio.
Peter Weller? Yeah, you know him from his iconic roles as RoboCop and Buckaroo Banzai. He's acted in and directed tons of TV you've watched: Longmire, Dexter, Sons of Anarchy and more. Did you know that Peter is also works as an art historian?
So, what about this mouthpiece, you ask? Well, Peter is also a graduate of UNT where he played trumpet for a time before switching to a major in theater. You may have seen his custom Calicchio pocket trumpet in the background occasionally on Longmire, or you may remember the bar scene from Buckaroo Banzai where he solos on it. The original mouthpiece can be seen later when Peter sits at his piano.
Peter also leads a jazz sextet and (like so many of us) takes inspiration from Miles Davis. As with anything he does, Peter Weller takes his playing seriously and so many years ago he had a custom mouthpiece made for him by Dominick Calicchio.
But what about *this* mouthpiece, you ask? Well, the mouthpiece in this listing is an exact copy of that very custom mouthpiece!
