Vintage OPTIMUS No. 5 S 5S Portable Camping Camp Hiking STOVE. Sweden. Brass

Here's
a Nice Vintage Optimus of Sweden Camping or Cabin Stove.  I don't know when it's from---  in doing research I saw references from the 1920's to the 1970's.  The top "pot platform" portion is certainly much newer than the rest of it--- the base and rest of it looks very old.  I'll leave it to you to decide.   I think it runs on gasoline or maybe kerosene--- I'll leave it for you to know that too, because I don't---- I really don't know anything technical about it.
It's all in Very Nice Condition--- the brass has a lovely old patina, and there doesn't appear to be any damage and only minimal spots of a little corrosion.  It has a lot of nice engravings,  I think it also has some copper and steel parts. I do not know if it works or how to work it, and weather it's all perfectly complete.  There is no fuel in it and I haven't tested anything on it.  If it is old, it will probably need some overhaul.

The 5S was marketed as a domestic stove for home use. Thinner metal as it wasn't going to be tossed about in luggage.  Runs on kerosene after alcohol primer.  This one has a silent burner as opposed to the more common so-called "roarer burners" which have a distinctive hiss when operating.  While the versions without the S have been made until fairly recently, this one is likely around 100 years old.  Competitor Primus code stamped a date. Optimus didn't. So this probably hasn't been to the North Pole, but it has seen a lot of history. "
